What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-Time Support Teacher & Operations Assistant position at River Church Preschool and Child Care Center?
The River Church Preschool & Childcare Center is seeking a dependable individual who has a genuine love for God and a passion for caring for children. As a ministry of The River Church, our mission is to love God by loving our community while providing education, compassion, and excellence to every child and family we serve.
This position plays an essential role in the daily operation of our center by supporting teachers, maintaining a clean and welcoming environment, preparing lunches, and leading classrooms when needed. The ideal candidate is flexible, organized, and enjoys serving wherever needed to help our children, families, and staff thrive.
- Prepare and heat lunches (student provided) according to food safety guidelines and assist with meal service.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the building, including classrooms, common areas, restrooms, and other assigned spaces.
- Provide teacher breaks while ensuring children remain safe, engaged, and supervised.
- Lead preschool through school-age classrooms as needed by implementing daily routines, classroom management, and planned activities.
- Foster a safe, nurturing, and Christ-centered environment for every child.
- Model Christian values through words, actions, and interactions with children, families, and coworkers.
- Follow all Virginia child care licensing regulations, health and safety standards, and center policies.
- Work cooperatively with staff to meet the daily needs of the center and provide support wherever needed.
- Maintain open, professional communication with families and fellow team members.
Qualifications:
- A personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a heart for serving others.
- Passion for working with children and supporting their spiritual, social, emotional, and educational development.
- Dependable, flexible, and willing to serve in a variety of roles throughout the day.
- Ability to lead a classroom of preschool and school-age children with confidence and care.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to lift, bend, stand, and actively participate in classroom and cleaning duties.
- Must meet all Virginia childcare employment requirements, including background checks and required training.
- Candidate must be age 18 or older.
