Summary of Responsibilities
Oversees the nursing services on an assigned unit.
Illustrative Examples of Work
1. Assist’s the DON in the direction, coordination and evaluation of the nursing care services and staff; aid in implementing policies, procedures and floor routines.
2. Identifies and studies nursing problems and assists in their solution; defines the facilities identifies, rules and regulations to nursing personnel.
3. Coordinate the ongoing nursing process (assessments, plan development, plan implementation and evaluation) and maintains all related documents in a current state (care plans, etc.).
4. Maintains/audits all nursing documentation (charts, etc.).
5. Supervises nursing staff on assigned unit; responsible for maintaining quality and quantity of care on all shifts.
6. Member of Nurse Management Team, assesses residents on and off unit for appropriate Level of Care (LOC), identifies problems, needs and resources of care.
7. Acts as Liaison with all consultants regarding the unit.
8. Attends and participates in all necessary meetings and committees.
9. Performs all duties in accordance with County policies and procedures.
10.Performs additional floor duties to assist residents with ADLs and to meet resident needs.
11.Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Education and Experience
Certification of graduation from an accredited school of nursing, with course work in restorative nursing and psychiatric or geriatric nursing.
Current registration with the Illinois State Board of Nurse Examiners.
Two years professional nursing experience, preferably in a geriatric related area with one year of supervisory experience.
Thorough knowledge of nursing theory and practices.
Extensive knowledge of applicable Federal, State and Local requirements for a skilled nursing care facility.
Abilities
Ability to remain up to date with current medical equipment and techniques necessary to care for the Medicare and Exceptional Care resident.
Ability to deal effectively with Nursing Home residents.
Competent organizational and administrative skills.
Ability to participate in workshops, seminars and other continuous educational programs, as required.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with professional and non-professional personnel, residents, families and the general public.
Ability to function effectively in an emergency situation; maintain a composed manner of self and staff.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $38.00 - $43.00 per hour
