Responsibilities
- Manage the full spectrum of general ledger accounting, including account reconciliation, journal entries, and balance sheet reconciliation to ensure accurate financial records.
- Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections while maintaining compliance with organizational policies.
- Prepare comprehensive financial reports, including statements aligned with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards), and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Conduct detailed financial analysis and account analysis to support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning efforts.
- Ensure adherence to controls and implement internal audit procedures to safeguard assets and enhance operational efficiency.
- Lead cash management activities, including cash flow forecasting, bank reconciliations, and managing banking relationships.
- Support technical accounting functions such as payroll processing, regulatory compliance, and implementing accounting software like Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, or similar platforms.
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of accounting principles including GAAP, IFRS, double-entry bookkeeping, and regulatory standards relevant to non-profit and governmental sectors.
- Proven experience with financial management software such as Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, or equivalent systems.
- Strong understanding of financial concepts like debits & credits, account reconciliation, balance sheet management, and account analysis.
- Ability to perform detailed financial report writing with clarity and accuracy for internal stakeholders and external regulators.
- Expertise in compliance procedures alongside experience with public accounting practices is highly desirable.
- Excellent analytical skills combined with a solid grasp of budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and general ledger reconciliation techniques.
