We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Wound Care Nurse (RN or LPN) to join our skilled nursing team. As a Wound Care Nurse, you will play a vital role in assessing, treating, and managing wounds, supporting our residents’ health and well-being, and guiding our nursing teams to achieve exceptional outcomes.
Wound Care Nurse Duties, Responsibilities, & Qualifications:
Perform comprehensive wound assessments to evaluate size, depth, condition, and infection risk.
Monitor wound progress, document changes, and update care plans accordingly.
Identify and manage complications such as infection, hemorrhage, or dehiscence.
Select and apply appropriate wound dressings and therapies, including wound debridement, cleansing, irrigation, and packing.
Manage patient pain and discomfort related to wounds.
Educate patients, families, and caregivers on wound care techniques and preventive measures.
Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care and ensure optimal outcomes.
Identify factors contributing to wound formation, such as pressure ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, and burns, and implement preventive strategies.
Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in accordance with facility and regulatory standards.
Adhere to infection control protocols and stay current on wound care advancements and research.
Participate in continuing education and professional development to enhance nursing skills.
Wound Care Nurse Qualifications:
Active, unencumbered state license as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and leadership skills.
Previous experience as a nurse in wound care, long-term care, or skilled nursing is preferred but not required.
Excellent communication and professional collaboration skills.
