Rivanna Water & Sewer Authority is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead a high-performing team responsible for delivering critical water and wastewater infrastructure projects that serve our community.
This is a people-first leadership role ideal for someone who excels at developing teams, driving accountability, and ensuring projects are delivered successfully through others. You will not be managing every project yourself; instead, you will empower and support your team to deliver complex capital projects on time, on budget, and in compliance with Virginia procurement requirements.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead & Develop a High-Performing Team
- Provide leadership, coaching, and direction to a team of engineers, inspectors, and project staff
- Build a culture of accountability, collaboration, and professional growth
Oversee Capital Project Delivery
- Set clear expectations and empower staff to lead projects successfully
- Ensure successful delivery of capital improvement projects (CIP) through staff
- Hold teams accountable for scope, schedule, budget, and quality performance
- Monitor project progress, identify risks, and ensure corrective actions are taken
- Ensure Procurement & Contract Compliance
- Oversee engineering and construction procurement in accordance with the Virginia Public Procurement Act (VPPA)
- Manage consultant and construction contracts to ensure performance, compliance, and value
Drive Coordination & Strategic Alignment
- Partner with Operations, Maintenance, Finance, and IT to align infrastructure projects with organizational priorities
- Support long-term infrastructure planning, asset management, and system resiliency
- Serve as a Trusted Leader
- Represent Rivanna with regional partners and stakeholders
- Support emergency response as a technical leader when needed
