About this Job:
Reporting to the Director of Quality, this role will be responsible for the testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, and continuous improvement of electrical test equipment and processes used in the manufacturing of instrument transformers.
This is a hands-on engineering position for someone who enjoys solving technical problems, improving processes, and working closely with Quality, Engineering, and Operations in a manufacturing environment.
Job Description:
- Perform electrical, insulation, and accuracy testing of instrument transformers
- Troubleshoot testing issues, analyze results, and identify solutions
- Capture and document test data in formal reports
- Develop, improve, and maintain testing procedures and work instructions
- Design, commission, maintain, and troubleshoot test equipment
- Perform preventive maintenance and diagnose equipment failures
- Conduct root cause analysis in close partnership with Engineering and Quality
- Help ensure product quality throughout the test process
- Support Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
- Assist Engineering with equipment and process improvement projects
- Ensure testing processes meet applicable IEEE, IEC, ISO, and CSA standards
- Maintain appropriate spare parts for critical testing equipment
- Promote a safe, organized, and quality-focused work environment
Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
- 5 years of relevant experience, ideally in transformer manufacturing, electrical testing, or a similar industrial environment
- Strong understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals and transformer test equipment
- Strong troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, equipment manuals, and test results
- Hands-on mindset with the ability to work around industrial equipment
- Safety- and quality-focused approach
- Ability to manage projects and priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Strong team player who can influence results across departments
