Compensation: $18 – $25 per hour.
Purpose
Ritsema Associates is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Flooring Estimator. The successful candidate will be responsible for accurately calculating project costs, preparing estimates, and learning the intricacies of Flooring estimating. As an Estimator at Ritsema Associates, you will prepare detailed cost estimates for projects, including materials, labor, and equipment. You will analyze project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to ensure accurate estimates. Additionally, you will work closely with project managers, architects, and contractors to gather necessary information for estimates and identify and quantify cost factors such as production time, materials, and labor expenses.
Key Responsibilites
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for projects, including materials, labor, and equipment.
- Analyze project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to ensure accurate estimates.
- Review and analyze bids from subcontractors and suppliers to determine the best options.
- Prepare and present cost estimates and reports to management.
- Stay updated on industry trends, material costs, and construction methods.
- Work closely with project managers, architects, and contractors to gather necessary information for estimates.
- Assist in developing and maintaining relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
- Collaborate with the project team to identify potential cost-saving opportunities.
- Participate in project planning and scheduling activities.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in estimating, construction, or a related field is an asset.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting construction plans and specifications.
- Strong Knowledge of “On Center” estimating software
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Flooring installation.
- Degree in Construction Management or similar experience.
- Knowledge of construction industry standards and practices.
- Familiarity with contract documents and project management principles.
- Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Physical Requirements
- Primarily working in an office setting with frequent use of computers, phones, etc.
- Ability to sit, stand and walk for extended periods.
- Occasional site visits may require walking on uneven surfaces, climbing stairs or ladders, and navigating active construction environments while wearing required PPE.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to communicate clearly in person, over the phone, and via email.
