Job Description
Job Title: Appliance Installer
Reports to: Terminal Manager
Position Summary: The position of Appliance Installer is responsible for the loading, unloading and installation of gas and electric household appliances. These appliances include: washers, dryers, ranges, wall ovens, cooktops, refrigerators, and ventilation hoods into new and existing residential units. This position ensures that the installed appliances are damage free, properly installed according to manufacturer’s specifications, and are fully functioning. It is also the responsibility of the installer that all daily route paper work is accurately completed and turned in the next day. Vehicle inspection reports are also to be accurately completed daily according to the company policy and DOT regulations for any installers who are driving for the company.
Qualifications:
- Previous appliance installation experience preferred
- Great customer service skills
- Must be able to physically lift or move appliances up to 100 pounds and occasionally move appliances over 100 pounds and places unit(s) into designated installation spot
- Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
- Ability to deal effectively and tactfully with customers and employees.
- Ability to make decisions in a timely and professional manner, plus have analytical ability, initiative and problems solving ability.
- Install unit(s) using simple hand tools supplied by the company.
- Inspects final product for proper operation and damage
Summary of Key Responsibilities:
- Oversees the completed delivery and installation of appliances throughout the entire process.
- Ensure that the installation is up to current code and that the appliance is ran to check for leaks on water connects and functioning correctly.
- Keep accurate information on bill of ladings including documenting all services performed, adding or crediting of services, and gather the required signatures from the person on site.
- Additional forms must be filled out to communicate any issues to both internal and external customers, if an installation cannot be completed.
- Provide superior customer service to both internal and external customers and clearly explain installation issues to potentially upset consumers.
- Responsible for safely and effectively operating a two-axle delivery truck while abiding all vehicle code regulations and laws with in the state.
- Perform a daily inspection at the beginning and end of each shift with a daily vehicle inspection report to ensure safe operation and daily maintenance.
- Perform deliveries to retail, wholesale, and residential customers with one of the following devices: shoulder dolly straps, hand truck, and pallet jack.
- Immediately report any traffic infractions, property damage, and/or injury to location Manager.
- Accept any additional duties as assigned by location manager.
Summary of Experience and Education:
A High School Diploma or equivalency diploma such as a GED is required.
Twelve months or more related experience and/or training and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and regulations, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure.
Ability to communicate fluently in English both verbally and in written form.
Communication, inter-personal skills, strong organizational skills, problem-solving skills, multi-tasking skills and the ability to work under strict deadlines a must.
Licenses and Certifications:
Must have a valid State Driver’s License with a safe driving record (3 or more years of pertinent driving experience), and must pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
Travel:
Minimal to no travel is required other than travel to destinations for delivery.

Physical Demands:
The Appliance Installer must be in good physical condition to complete these tasks and a physical may be required.
- Must be able to maneuver/negotiate up to 400 lbs. with mechanical assistance (forklifts and hand dollies)
- Must be able to frequently lift/maneuver up to 100 pounds without assistance.
- Must be able to be on their feet for extended periods of time while squatting, bending, pulling or lifting.
- Must be able to maneuver, bend, squat and crawl while utilizing hand tools and other equipment.
