What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shipping Clerk position at Ritchie Engineering?
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

- Assemble and label shipping cartons for a picking cart, pick products from warehouse shelving and insert into the appropriate cart, and load cartons on to conveyor
- Use voice controlled picking headset and fingertip scanning system to obtain and communicate information
- Perform quality checks on randomly selected and incorrectly weighed orders
- Perform void fill procedure to secure products for the shipping process
- Prepare large shipments on pallets using a scan gun to verify all cartons on the order are present, wrap the pallet using a stretch wrap machine, and weigh the order and record the weight
- Complete paperwork process using in house and external systems (UPS, FedEx, etc.) to complete Bills of Lading
- Employees may work at different work stations as production needs require
- Operate material handling equipment including cards, pallets jacks, sit-down forklift, order picker, and turret truck
- General housekeeping, maintenance and organization of work areas
- Requires interpersonal skills to coordinate with other employees and outside vendors
- Must report defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor
- Responsible for always keeping an adequate supply of shipping materials on hand
- Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Prior experience in either picking, packaging, shipping, or receiving
- Proficiency in reading and writing in English
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, ETC:
- Driver’s license not required, but preferred in order to be able to drive truck between building
- Must be able to accurately work with numbers in using weight to calculate shipping cost
- Must be able to read Work Instructions and take verbal instruction regarding processes that have yet to be documented
- Must be highly self-motivated, work with minimal supervision able to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment

- Required to sit, stand, walk, handle or feel objects, tools and controls
- Must be able to hear orders through a headset and read orders on a computer screen
- Vision required to inspect products and documents in detail
- Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, and to stoop, kneel, or crouch
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds; some work stations require lifting and/or moving up to 60 pounds
- Must push/pull carts with up to 300 pounds of product on it
