Nuclear Engineering Project Coordinator – Technical Documentation & Project Support


Location: Wilmington, NC

Work Arrangement: 100% Onsite

Contract Duration: Approximately 12 Months (Possible multi-year extension and conversion to Full time based on performance)

Schedule: Monday–Friday, approximately 8:00 AM–5:00 PM

Hours: 40 hours/week

Pay Rate: $43/hr 50% Health Insurance (Medical Dental Vision)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Project Coordinator to support engineering leadership and project teams working on new commercial nuclear reactor projects.

This position is ideal for someone who combines strong project coordination, technical documentation, meeting coordination, Microsoft Office, stakeholder communication, and organizational skills with the ability to operate effectively in a highly technical engineering environment.

The Engineering Project Coordinator will support the development and publication of technical specifications, engineering reports, manuals, presentations, procedures, schedules, meeting documentation, and other project deliverables.

The coordinator will also organize engineering meetings, track action items, maintain project documentation, coordinate across internal and external engineering organizations, and help improve the processes and collaboration tools used by engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support engineering managers in the planning, coordination, execution, and completion of engineering projects.
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate technical activities supporting engineering deliverables.
  • Maintain accountability for the on-time delivery of assigned documentation, project support activities, and deliverables.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project documentation, including:
  • Project schedules
  • Engineering reports
  • Meeting notes
  • Status updates
  • Presentations
  • Procedures
  • Technical specifications
  • Manuals
  • Action-item trackers
  • Support preparation and publication of documentation for commercial nuclear reactor projects.
  • Organize engineering and project meetings.
  • Prepare meeting agendas and supporting materials.
  • Document decisions, action items, owners, and next steps.
  • Track follow-up activities through closure.
  • Monitor project progress and help ensure deliverables meet established deadlines and quality requirements.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with engineering managers, project managers, project engineers, contributors, and other stakeholders.
  • Coordinate communications between engineering teams and external project partners.
  • Serve as a liaison between organizations and teams working across different geographic locations.
  • Assist project and engineering leadership in identifying project issues, dependencies, and potential risks.
  • Support the development and tracking of mitigation and resolution activities.
  • Maintain accurate and organized digital and physical project records.
  • Help ensure engineering information is current, accessible, properly organized, and controlled.
  • Support compliance with applicable quality, engineering, nuclear safety, and documentation requirements.
  • Support appropriate handling and protection of confidential and intellectual-property information.
  • Improve technical information-sharing processes across engineering teams and external partners.
  • Apply Lean and continuous-improvement principles to streamline engineering workflows.
  • Identify opportunities to improve project efficiency, communication, documentation, and team collaboration.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must meet one of the following education/experience requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college

OR

  • High school diploma/GED with at least 4 years of professional experience in a business environment

In addition, candidates should have:

  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Word
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Experience creating and modifying PDF documents using Adobe software
  • Experience with project management tools and software
  • Strong computer and business-application skills
  • Experience preparing schedules, reports, presentations, spreadsheets, meeting documentation, or similar project materials
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is an exceptionally organized Engineering Project Coordinator who enjoys bringing structure to complex technical projects.

You may not necessarily be designing the nuclear reactor systems yourself, but you should be comfortable working alongside engineers, project managers, engineering managers, technical specialists, and external engineering partners.

You should be able to take a technical engineering meeting and turn it into clear, actionable information by documenting:

  • What was discussed
  • What decisions were made
  • What actions are required
  • Who owns each action
  • When each action is due
  • What dependencies or risks exist
  • Whether those actions have been completed

Strong candidates will also be comfortable developing polished technical reports, presentations, procedures, schedules, meeting notes, status reports, and other engineering documentation.

Work Arrangement

This position is 100% onsite in Wilmington, North Carolina.

Candidates must be willing and able to work onsite Monday through Friday.

Because this is a fully onsite role, candidates already located in or reasonably commutable to Wilmington, NC are strongly preferred.
