Professional Engineer

Pay Rate: $60/hour on W2
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Engineer to apply engineering principles in the design and installation of distribution systems in a safe, efficient, and practical manner. This role also involves managing projects during field installations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform engineering design, calculations, estimates, studies, and coordination of gas distribution facility installations.
- Analyze load, pressure requirements, future growth, and other key variables during the design process.
- Oversee layout, sizing, and specification of pipeline equipment, including economic justification and team coordination.
- Develop engineering drawings and effectively communicate design details to field personnel and contractors.
- Conduct distribution system pressure and cathodic protection studies.
- Coordinate with external stakeholders, agencies, and utilities regarding materials, supplies, and project planning.
- Prepare economic justifications to support capital investment decisions, including budget tracking and completion reports.
- Review completed work orders and cost data to ensure alignment with plans and construction standards.
- Assist in evaluating system operations and troubleshooting issues.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Civil, or a related Engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in utility design or related project/construction design.
Preferred Skills & Competencies
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate across teams and interact with all organizational levels.
- Proficiency in PC software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Experience or ability to learn tools such as SAP, MicroStation, Stoner, and ArcGIS/Arc Info.
- Strong project management, time management, and multitasking abilities.
- Analytical mindset with problem-solving and innovative thinking skills.
- Knowledge of applicable engineering standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., DOT CFR 192).
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Combination of office and field work, including exposure to varying weather and site conditions.
- Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods and occasionally lift up to 30 pounds.
- Willingness to travel, including occasional overnight stays.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and occasional overtime.
