Duties
- Enforce game rules accurately and consistently, interpreting sports regulations such as soccer rules and other related sports like basketball and baseball when applicable.
- Make quick, fair decisions on game incidents, including fouls, penalties, and player conduct issues, while managing conflicts with professionalism.
- Ensure player safety by adhering to safety protocols, including the operation of AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators) and CPR when necessary.
- Manage player behavior effectively to promote sportsmanship and teamwork, addressing disputes promptly through clear communication.
- Conduct manual handling tasks such as heavy lifting of equipment or setting up field markers safely.
- Maintain clear communication with coaches, players, parents, and fellow officials to facilitate smooth game flow.
- Complete all required documentation related to game reports, incident logs, and safety checks.
Requirements
- Previous experience in sports coaching or officiating is highly desirable, especially in soccer or related sports like basketball or baseball.
- Strong knowledge of sports rules interpretation across multiple disciplines including soccer, basketball, and baseball.
- Certification in first aid and CPR/AED operation is preferred; willingness to obtain certification if not already certified.
- Experience working with children in a sports or recreational setting is essential for fostering a positive environment.
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely, including heavy lifting of equipment or field setup materials.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage conflicts effectively and maintain a professional demeanor under pressure.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and adherence to all relevant sports officiating standards.
