Role Summary
The Nursing Supervisor – IDD oversees nursing services across the organization’s OPWDD residential programs. This role supervises Registered Nurses supporting 29 Individualized Residential Alternatives (IRAs) and ensures consistent clinical practice, regulatory compliance, and coordination of medical care for individuals receiving services. The Nursing Supervisor works closely with program leadership and the Sr. Director of Nursing to maintain high standards of healthcare oversight and support for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Role Summary
The Nursing Supervisor – IDD oversees nursing services across the organization’s OPWDD residential programs. The Nursing Supervisor works closely with program leadership and the Sr. Director of Nursing to maintain high standards of healthcare oversight and support for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Supervise Registered Nurses responsible for medical oversight across 29 OPWDD-certified IRAs.
- Ensure consistent nursing practice, documentation standards, and adherence to applicable OPWDD and Department of Health regulations.
- Provide clinical guidance and consultation to nursing staff and program leadership regarding health-related needs of individuals supported.
- Monitor nursing service delivery including medication management, medical follow-up, and coordination with community healthcare providers.
- Support hiring, onboarding, supervision, and professional development of nursing staff.
- Assist in developing and implementing nursing policies, procedures, and protocols aligned with regulatory requirements and organizational standards.
- Review incident reports, medical events, and health-related trends to ensure appropriate follow-up and quality improvement.
- Collaborate with program directors and interdisciplinary teams to support individuals with complex medical or behavioral health needs.
- Ensure nursing services support regulatory compliance during audits, surveys, and quality reviews.
- Conduct regular site visits to residential programs to support nursing oversight and ensure appropriate health service delivery.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN preferred).
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of clinical nursing experience; supervisory experience preferred. Experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities strongly preferred.
- Licensure: Active New York State Registered Nurse license.
- Skills: Strong clinical judgment, staff supervision, regulatory knowledge, and ability to coordinate care across multiple residential settings.
- Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with OPWDD regulations, medication administration standards, and residential healthcare oversight.
- Office-based with regular travel to residential program sites in NYC, Yonkers, & Westchester.
- Must be able to sit, stand, and occasionally lift to 10 pounds
