Role Overview

 

The Assistant Residence Manager supports the Residence Manager in the daily operations and overall quality of residential services. This role assists in supervising staff, coordinating individualized supports, and implementing Life Plans through a person-centered approach that promotes the needs, goals, preferences, rights, and independence of the people supported. The Assistant Residence Manager helps ensure a safe, respectful, and supportive environment while maintaining compliance with organizational policies and applicable federal, state, and local regulations. The position also supports appointment and activity coordination, personal fund management, family and stakeholder engagement, and advocacy for the rights and well-being of individuals. In collaboration with the Residence Manager and Quality Improvement team, the Assistant Residence Manager promotes quality outcomes, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement of program services.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Residence Manager in ensuring the program is adequately staffed, effectively operated, and provides consistent, high-quality services.

• Assist with the recruitment, interviewing, onboarding, supervision, coaching, and ongoing performance management of residential staff.

• Coordinate staff schedules, supervision meetings, training, competency development, and maintenance of required training records.

• Observe and monitor staff performance to ensure individuals’ Life Plans, goals, behavioral supports, and daily activities are implemented effectively.

• Ensure residential programs comply with applicable federal, state, local, OPWDD, and organizational regulations, policies, and quality standards.

• Monitor the health, safety, and well-being of individuals, including medication records, medical appointments, follow-up care, and coordination with nursing and other clinical providers.

• Ensure incidents, injuries, medical concerns, and other required events are accurately documented, reported, reviewed, and followed up on within established timeframes.

• Monitor daily documentation, Foothold records, billing information, progress notes, and other program records to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timely submission.

• Conduct required program monitoring activities, including unannounced visits, quality reviews, and follow-up on identified corrective actions and improvement needs.

• Build and maintain positive, professional relationships with individuals, families, guardians, advocates, staff, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders.

• Promote a person-centered, culturally responsive environment that supports individuals’ rights, independence, community participation, education, employment, and personal goals.

• Provide leadership and operational support in the absence of the Residence Manager, ensuring each shift is effectively managed and quality services are consistently maintained.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of Associate's Degree in Human Services or related field preferred.
  • 2 years’ experience working in a similar environment.
  • Knowledge of Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities 
  • Must have a clean NYS Driver’s License
  • AMAP and First Aid/CPR/AED certification a plus
  • Must have a valid driver’s license from tri-state area (NYS Preffered)
  • Skilled with Microsoft Office Suite, especially MS Word and MS Outlook

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

On-site. This is a full-time non-exempt position. Assistant Residence Manager may be required to work several evenings per month and may be required to work extra hours to complete work.

Salary : $55,405 - $58,405
