What are the responsibilities and job description for the Driver position at RISE Community Services?
JOB PURPOSE
The Driver ensures safe and reliable transportation services for individuals with disabilities. This position plays a critical role in supporting individuals' independence by providing transportation to community activities, appointments, and work locations while maintaining compliance with safety and regulatory standards. We’re looking for a reliable candidate with a flexible schedule, available up to 25 hours per week. Ideal availability includes Monday through Saturday between 5:30 AM and 6:00 PM, with rotating Saturday shifts.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Driver I:
- Operate agency vehicles to transport individuals with disabilities safely.
- Ensure passengers are securely seated and properly restrained.
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness, both inside and outside, and conduct basic safety checks before trips.
- Follow assigned routes and schedules while ensuring timely arrivals.
- Communicate effectively with individuals with disabilities to provide support and reassurance during transport.
- Assist passengers in boarding and exiting vehicles as needed.
- Report vehicle maintenance needs and safety concerns to the supervisor.
All other duties assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- Must be 18 years of age.
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Must successfully complete a pre-employment background check and any subsequent background check after employment.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to obtain a Missouri Class E chauffeur’s license within 14 days of hire.
- Successfully complete employment-related training as directed.
- Strong knowledge of traffic laws and defensive driving techniques.
- Ability to operate various vehicle types safely, including passenger vans.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving and emergency response skills.
- Ability to document incidents, mileage, and vehicle maintenance needs.
- Attention to detail in maintaining vehicle cleanliness inside and outside.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds independently and perform team lifts for heavier loads when appropriate.
- Extended periods of driving and exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
- Flexible work schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed.
- Frequent interaction with individuals with IDD in transportation settings.
