JOB PURPOSE
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) 1 provides person-centered support and care to individuals with disabilities. DSPs assist individuals with activities of daily living, community integration, and personal development while ensuring a safe and supportive environment.

Hourly – Full-Time
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist individuals with daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding, while promoting independence and dignity.
- Provide companionship and engage individuals in meaningful conversations and recreational activities to enhance their social and emotional well-being.
- Assist with meal preparation and dietary needs, ensuring compliance with nutritional guidelines and specific dietary restrictions.
- Monitor individuals' health conditions, report any concerns to the appropriate personnel, and document observations accurately.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized living environment by assisting with light housekeeping tasks, including laundry and tidying up personal spaces.
- Follow Individual Support Plans (ISPs) and behavior support strategies to ensure personalized and effective care.
- Administer medications as delegated and maintain accurate records in accordance with state regulations.
- Encourage individuals to participate in hobbies, exercises, and community activities to enhance their quality of life.
- Attend required training sessions and staff meetings to stay informed about best practices and company policies.
All other duties assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- Must be 18 years of age.
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Must successfully complete a pre-employment background check and any subsequent background check after employment.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to obtain a Missouri Class E chauffeur’s license within 14 days of hire.
- Successfully complete employment-related training as directed.
- Basic understanding of caregiving principles and person-centered support.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to follow care plans and safety procedures.
- Basic computer skills for documentation.
- Patience, empathy, and adaptability when working with individuals.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and lift regularly throughout the shift.
- Frequent lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to assist individuals with mobility, including transferring from wheelchairs, beds, and other seating.
- Ability to work in a variety of environments, including residential homes, community settings, and outdoors.
- Capacity to respond quickly in emergency situations, including assisting individuals in distress.
