Clinical Psychologist – RISE Community Hospital
The Clinical Psychologist will provide comprehensive psychological assessment, evidence-based therapy, and crisis intervention to a diverse patient population within both inpatient and outpatient settings at RISE Community Hospital. A key component of this position involves integrated case management. You will not only treat psychological conditions but also coordinate care, manage transitions, and connect patients with vital community resources to ensure continuity of care and support long-term recovery.
Key Responsibilities
1. Clinical Assessment & Intervention
- Conduct comprehensive psychological evaluations, diagnostic assessments, and mental status examinations for hospital patients.
- Provide evidence-based individual, group, and family psychotherapy (e.g., CBT, DBT, ACT) tailored to acute and chronic medical or psychiatric conditions.
- Deliver rapid crisis intervention and risk assessments (e.g., suicidal ideation, trauma) for patients in emergency or acute care units.
- Formulate clear, actionable treatment plans based on clinical diagnoses and psychological testing.
2. Integrated Case Management
- Care Coordination: Act as the primary point of contact for patients with complex psychological and social needs, ensuring all members of the care team are aligned.
- Discharge Planning: Develop and execute safe, comprehensive discharge and transition plans from inpatient care to outpatient or community-based services.
- Resource Referral: Identify and connect patients with external community resources, support groups, social services, and outpatient mental health providers.
- Utilization Review: Collaborate with insurance providers and hospital utilization staff to advocate for necessary patient care and documentation requirements.
3. Multidisciplinary Collaboration & Consultation
- Consult with physicians, nurses, social workers, and rehabilitation therapists to integrate psychological insights into overall medical treatment plans.
- Participate in daily or weekly interdisciplinary grand rounds and patient care conferences.
- Provide education to medical staff regarding behavioral health trends, trauma-informed care, and patient compliance strategies.
4. Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain timely, accurate, and confidential electronic health records (EHR) in compliance with HIPAA, hospital policies, and Joint Commission standards.
- Complete required case management documentation, including tracking patient progress, referrals, and post-discharge follow-ups.

Qualifications & Skills
Required Education & Licensure
- Degree: Psy.D., Ph.D. in Clinical or Counseling Psychology, or Master’s in Clinical Psychology (MA, MS, or MClinPsych) from an APA-accredited program.
- Internship: Completion of an APA-accredited doctoral internship, preferably in a hospital or medical center setting.
- Licensure: Current, unrestricted license to practice as a Psychologist in the state or Louisiana (or license-eligible within a specified timeframe).
Experience & Competencies
- Minimum of 1–3 years of experience in a hospital, inpatient psychiatric unit, or partial hospitalization program (PHP) preferred.
- Strong foundational knowledge of case management principles, healthcare systems, and community mental health resources.
- Proven expertise in crisis intervention and managing severe, persistent mental illness (SPMI).
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport quickly with patients in distress.
- Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) software (e.g., Epic, Cerner).
