Rise and Design Art Studio is seeking reliable, outgoing, and self-motivated individuals to work as Event Managers for our Paint Your Own Pottery events throughout Central Pennsylvania. Hosts are responsible for setting up, facilitating, and cleaning up off-site events while providing a welcoming, organized, and creative experience for guests.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, is comfortable managing events independently or with a partner, and has an interest in art, creativity, or community-based experiences.
Responsibilities
- Pick up pottery pieces and event supplies from the Rise and Design Art Studio in Watsontown, PA
- Transport all materials to event venues (distance ranges from Watsontown but anywhere between 25 - 45 minutes each way)
- Set up pottery pieces, paints, tools, and event materials
- Check in participants and manage checkout/purchases
- Assist guests during the painting experience and distribute paints as needed
- Label and bag finished pottery pieces accurately as guests complete their work
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming event space throughout the event
- Clean, pack, and reload all materials and pottery pieces after the event
- Return all supplies and finished pottery pieces to the studio in Watsontown following the event
Time Commitment
- Typical events are approximately 6 - 8 hours total, including:
- ~30 - 40 minute drive to event venue
- ~1.5 hours setup
- ~2 hour event
- ~1 hour cleanup
- ~30 - 40 minute drive to Watsontown
- Pay begins when materials are picked up and ends when all items are returned to the studio
Requirements
- Must be 18 years or older
- Valid driver’s license and reliable personal transportation (should be able to fit 4 27 gallon containers in vehicle)
- Comfortable working independently and problem-solving on-site
- Friendly, professional, and customer-service oriented
- Organized and detail-oriented, especially with labeling finished pottery
- Able to lift and carry bins, boxes, and supplies (~30lb containers)
- Dependable and punctual
Independent Contractor Details
- This is a 1099 independent contractor position
- Contractors are responsible for their own taxes
- Contractors provide their own transportation and work independently at events
Training
- Paid training will be provided in February
- Training will cover event setup, customer experience, payment process, labeling procedures, and cleanup expectations
Compensation
- $12 per hour
- Typical event payout: $70 - $100 per event, depending on duration
