RISE Academy is an alternative high school within Lawrence Public Schools. RISE is a trauma-informed school, grounded in restorative justice, that values relationships and mutual respect with the belief that all students want to be successful in school. RISE students learn in a competency-based structure in an academic and social-emotional program that works to prepare students for an ever-changing world after high school.
RISE Academy incorporates competency-based education, the project-based learning, restorative justice, trauma informed practices, and the belief that all students want to be successful.
Responsibilities:
Develop and deliver engaging lessons in business-related subjects aligned with state standards and school curriculum.
Teach courses such as: Introduction to Business, Entrepreneurship, Marketing, Business Law, Accounting, and Personal Finance.
Integrate technology, simulations, and project-based learning into instruction.
Promote 21st-century skills including communication, collaboration, and critical thinking.
Prepare students for business competitions, certification exams, and/or internships.
Provide academic and career guidance related to business pathways.
Collaborate with local businesses or organizations to support real-world learning opportunities.
Monitor and evaluate student progress through assessments, projects, and presentations.
Maintain accurate records of student grades, attendance, and performance.
Establish a positive and professional classroom culture conducive to learning.
Participate in faculty meetings, parent conferences, professional development, and school events.
