Maintenance Technician

RISE A Real Estate Company
Shreveport, LA Full Time
POSTED ON 9/3/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 10/2/2026
Maintenance Technician — Pilots Pointe
Location: Shreveport, Louisiana
Compensation: $21.00–$24.00 per hour, based on experience and certifications
Schedule: Full-Time | Onsite | On-Call Rotation
The Opportunity
At a student housing community, maintenance has a direct impact on the resident experience. When an air conditioner stops working, an appliance fails, or an apartment is not ready for move-in, residents do not care which department owns the problem. They care that someone responds, communicates, and gets it fixed.
Pilots Pointe is looking for a dependable Maintenance Technician who takes ownership of their work and understands that a completed work order is not enough—the repair needs to be done correctly.
This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys troubleshooting, working independently, and seeing the results of a productive day. You will handle apartment repairs, preventative maintenance, property inspections, and unit turns while helping the maintenance team keep the community safe, functional, and ready for residents.
What You’ll Be Doing
  • Complete resident service requests accurately and within established timeframes
  • Troubleshoot and repair plumbing, electrical, HVAC, appliances, carpentry, drywall, and other apartment maintenance issues
  • Communicate professionally with residents regarding repairs, access, and follow-up
  • Perform preventative maintenance throughout apartments, common areas, and building systems
  • Inspect apartments and community areas for maintenance concerns or safety hazards
  • Prepare vacant apartments for incoming residents, including repairs, replacements, and final inspections
  • Assist with high-volume unit turns and move-in preparation during the student housing turn season
  • Maintain community amenities, offices, hallways, grounds, and other shared spaces
  • Respond to emergency maintenance calls as part of the on-call rotation
  • Document completed work, materials used, and follow-up needs in the property-management system
  • Maintain tools, equipment, supplies, and maintenance areas in an organized and safe condition
  • Follow company safety procedures and applicable environmental requirements
  • Support the Maintenance Supervisor and onsite team with inspections, projects, and other community needs
What Success Looks Like
You will be successful in this role when:
  • Residents receive timely and professional communication
  • Repairs are completed correctly instead of temporarily patched
  • Work orders are documented and closed without unnecessary delays
  • Vacant apartments are ready for move-in on schedule
  • Preventative maintenance is completed before equipment fails
  • Tools, parts, and maintenance areas remain organized
  • You recognize when a problem requires additional support and communicate it early
  • The team can depend on you during busy periods, on-call emergencies, and student turn
What We’re Looking For
  • Previous apartment, residential, commercial, hotel, or facilities maintenance experience
  • Hands-on experience with plumbing, electrical, appliances, carpentry, drywall, and general repairs
  • HVAC troubleshooting experience strongly preferred
  • EPA 608 certification preferred
  • CPO certification preferred
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently while remaining accountable to the maintenance team
  • Professional communication and customer-service skills
  • Dependable attendance and willingness to participate in the on-call rotation
  • Ability to manage multiple work orders and changing priorities
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, including walking the property, climbing stairs, bending, kneeling, and lifting maintenance equipment and materials
  • Availability to work additional hours, weekends, or adjusted schedules during student turn and other high-demand periods
This Role May Be a Fit If
  • You take pride in fixing something correctly the first time
  • You can troubleshoot a problem instead of immediately replacing parts
  • You understand that entering a resident’s apartment requires professionalism and respect
  • You stay productive without someone having to constantly direct your next task
  • You can handle a busy work-order queue without sacrificing quality
  • You are willing to help outside your normal routine when the property needs it
  • You understand that student housing turn is demanding, fast-paced, and a full-team effort
