What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant/Associate Professor of Exercise Science position at RIPON COLLEGE BOARD OF TRUSTEES?
The Department of Exercise Science at Ripon College is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time position as tenure-track Associate Professor or Assistant Professor, or as non-tenure-track Instructor or Professor of Practice, with initial appointment in August 2026. The position’s area of specialization is Physical Education and Health. This is a 9-month position committed to the academic and professional preparation of Physical Education and Health teaching majors.
Applicants are required to have a M.Ed., M.S., Ph.D., or Ed.D. in Physical Education or a closely related field at the time of appointment. Candidates with an M.S. or M.Ed. must have professional experience in the field. Candidates with a Ph.D. must have the ability and willingness to establish an effective research agenda with student involvement. Primary responsibilities include teaching physical education courses such as Personal and Community Health Problems, School Health Curriculum, Adapted Physical Education, and various teaching fundamentals courses. Other teaching responsibilities may include Sports Nutrition and Motor Learning. Additional expectations include advising students in the department; service to the college, department, and community; as well as active involvement in professional organizations.

Required Qualifications:
- Ph.D./Ed.D in Physical Education (or a closely related field) or M.S./M.Ed. with at least four years of professional K-12 teaching experience in physical education and health
- Ability to teach a variety of classes related to physical education and health
- Candidates with a Ph.D./Ed.D. will have a clearly articulated research agenda
- Candidates with a M.S./M.Ed. will demonstrate how their experience in the field will inform their teaching
- Strong commitment to student-centered active learning and student engagement
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching one or more of the following courses: Personal and Community Health Problems, School Health Curriculum, Adapted Physical Education, Instructional Strategies in Physical Education, Sport Nutrition, and/or Motor Learning
- Demonstrated experience working in multicultural environments and interest in developing curricula related to diverse populations
- Willingness to develop courses building on the established curricula
- Evidence of successful collaborative work across disciplines
- Ability to establish a research program that engages both undergraduate and graduate students
- Commitment to undergraduate advising
- Demonstrated ability to mentor undergraduate research projects
- Teacher Licensure/Certification
- Prior experience in the K-12 classroom
