Assistant Varsity / JV Football Coach
The individual chosen for this position will be of high character and be able to bring exuberant passion and energy each day. The individual will not only be the Assistant to the Varsity Head Coach but also work as a JV Head Coach. The individual will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
- Assisting in daily practice plans -- Working as a positional coach for both offense and defense, as well as assisting with special teams.
- Supervise students at all times.
- Ability to manage and run a full practice schedule efficiently in the absence of the Head Coach.
- Teach the fundamentals, skills, and techniques as directed by the Head Coach for the specific positional groups.
- Prepare JV players to become great Varsity players and prepare Varsity players for best team results on game days.
- Care for each player’s health as a person.
- Willingness to assist as either a sideline or booth coach on game days.
- Be able to set up and effectively use technology in practice and on game days.
- Follow program expectations and policies as developed by the Head Coach, Athletic Director, and Ripon Area School District.
- Evaluate player success.
- Able to supervise open field and weight room opportunities outside of the season.
- Attend all practices, games, and meetings.
- Perform and comply with any additional duties as assigned by the Head Coach.
- Conduct yourself as a professional, show great sportsmanship, Ripon pride, and be a role model for the student-athletes while representing the Ripon Area School District and community.
- Promote the game of football to the Ripon Community.
The individual must also encompass the following characteristics of which the program is built:
- Passion and love for the game of football.
- Positive energy, consistently building on the morale of the athlete through positive reinforcement based on the values of the program.
- Positive attitude each day.
- Best effort in every situation.
The regular-season starts during the beginning of August and ends in late November. Practices will be at the discretion of the Head Coach but are usually run immediately following the school day Monday through Thursday. The regular season consists of nine games for Varsity and eight for JV.
Individuals with prior High School or College football experience that have a breadth of knowledge of the are encouraged to apply. A long-term commitment is preferred, but not required.
Compensation: $2,763
