Job Responsibilities
The duties of a Patient/Billing Coordinator are among the most comprehensive and varied in a dental office. The Coordinator performs many tasks requiring both interpersonal and technical skills. Responsibilities include:
- Identify responsible party by examining patient record.
- Issue invoice by entering service data; calculating charges; printing, sorting, and mailing invoices.
- Assist in billing claims both electronically and manual paper claims.
- Resolve billing issues by discussing contract with third-party payer; explaining insurance contract with patient.
- Maintain patient and invoice files by entering and adjusting data in billing system.
- Provide billing information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing third-party billings, accounts pending, and broken appointment charges data and trends.
- Post payments.
- Manage patient financial accounts.
- Prepare billing statements.
- Prepare and mail overdue account letters as directed.
- Telephone or message patients with accounts overdue.
- Prepare bank deposits.
- Coordinate financial needs with third party creditors such as Care Credit and Cherry Financing.
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
- Follow-up with patient when scheduled appointment has been cancelled or patient did not present for treatment.
- Follow-up with dentist on incidents or specific issues that deem discussion.
- Follow –up on referrals.
- Manage recall and inactive patient system.
- Help explain office policy to patients.
- Confirm the next day’s appointments according to protocol and patient preferences.
- Schedule patients for efficient use of doctor and staff time.
- Prepare financial treatment plans and present plan options to patient at end of their appointment.
- Answer and respond to telephone calls with professionalism.
- Daily, Weekly, and Monthly aging and closing reports.
- Accounts payable.
- Prepare and send correspondence as directed.
- Be an active participant in staff meetings.
- Accomplish dental office mission by completing related results as needed.
- Other duties as required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $14.00 - $18.00 per hour
