About The Role
We are looking for a Packaging Operator who is responsible for operating carbonate conveying or hydroxide packaging equipment to package Lithium hydroxide in bags, drums, and supersacks per customer requirements as defined in Product Standards in support of the Salts Area production and customer delivery needs.
This is a great opportunity to participate actively in the plant Hazwoper program to inspect and upkeep the safety related equipment and maintain high standards of housekeeping and orderliness in the packaging department.
Reporting to the Production Lead and working in a collaborative community, with a challenging and exciting environment within Hydroxide Line 1, you will
- Monitor processing and auxiliary equipment to predict or detect malfunctions, then either repairs or submits a work order notification for repairs.
- Draw samples and submits samples into QC for finished product testing.
- Update the computerized Safety Incident Management System (SIMS) database with information related to initiating an Incident\Near Miss or results of an incident investigation.
- Operate forklifts, power tools, and specialized equipment outlined in SOPs in the performance of their assigned tasks.
- Maintain inventory of packaging materials
- Follow all applicable RCRA, SPCC, and Hazmat rules and procedures and instruct others to do the same.
- A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team.
- Technical diploma, associate degree, or certification in Chemical Process Technology, Industrial Chemistry, Chemical Engineering Technology, or related field, strongly preferred.
- 2 years of relevant manufacturing experience or an equivalent combination of the education criteria outlined above, and relevant manufacturing experience required.
- Ability to operate multiple job functions in receiving, plant stores, and shipping.
- Certified to operate power industrial trucks.
- Understands the requirements of the 49 CFR, IATA, and IMDG regulations.
- Knowledge of loading containers/trailers for distributing loads evenly to meet DOT requirements.
