Our projects range from custom switchboards to full vessel power management and automation. We are growing and looking for a Controls Engineer with strong Siemens PLC experience to join our team.
Role Overview
As a Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for programming, configuring, and commissioning Siemens PLCs and related control systems across a variety of marine and industrial projects. You’ll work closely with our engineering and field service teams to ensure systems are designed, tested, and deployed reliably.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop, program, and troubleshoot Siemens PLC applications (TIA Portal, Step 7, WinCC, etc.).
• Design and implement control strategies for switchgear, MCCs, VFD packages, and automation systems.
• Support FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing) and on-site commissioning of systems.
• Collaborate with design engineers to integrate PLC logic with electrical schematics and HMI/SCADA systems.
• Provide technical support during installation, startup, and service calls.
• Maintain accurate documentation of code, logic, and project revisions.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 2 years hands-on experience with Siemens PLCs (TIA Portal, Step 7).
• Experience with HMI/SCADA platforms (WinCC, Ignition, or similar).
• Strong troubleshooting skills for industrial/marine control systems.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
• Willingness to travel for commissioning and field work as needed.
Preferred Skills
• Marine industry or heavy industrial controls experience.
• Familiarity with Allen-Bradley, ABB, or Schneider PLCs/VFDs.
• Knowledge of switchgear, power management systems, and generator controls.
