Job Summary
The Attendant provides services as planned to maintain, strengthen, and safeguard the client in his or her home environment. The Attendant delivers care, warmth, and support in accordance with the client’s individualized service plan and assigned duties.
Functions and Responsibilities
The Attendant is responsible for the following:
- Assist the client with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and personal hygiene needs according to specific assignments.
- Provide supervision of activities and assist as necessary to protect the client from physical harm.
- Perform duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Refrain from performing tasks that are not specified or authorized by the supervisor or the client’s individualized service plan.
- Report all significant changes in the client’s condition or circumstances to the supervisor within 24 hours of becoming aware, or by the next working day, including hospitalization or any break in service (intended or not).
- The Attendant must stop working and immediately notify the agency if the client is hospitalized, has a service break, is admitted to a nursing home or therapy facility, or is out of town.
- Remain alert for safety hazards and take immediate action to remove hazards or reduce risk of harm.
- Clock in and clock out using the mobile device, EVV device, and/or landline, and enter daily service codes for scheduled hours.
- Call the agency to verify that service codes have been entered correctly and that visits are confirmed.
- Notify the agency if seeking changes in employment status (active or inactive). Only the agency may terminate the Attendant’s employment. The client cannot terminate the Attendant or determine availability for reassignment.
- Refrain from handling or administering medications; Attendants may only provide reminders as allowed.
- Perform all duties in compliance with the agency’s policies, rules, and procedures.
- Contact the agency regarding availability for reassignment or additional work. The Attendant understands this work may be temporary and that the client’s service plan may be changed or terminated at any time. The Attendant may be reassigned or terminated at any time as determined by an agency representative.
- Comply with all trained agency policies and procedures, including but not limited to: Employee Handbook, Emergency Preparedness & Safety Precautions, Bloodborne/Airborne Pathogens & Exposure Control / TB Plan Health & Safety for Direct Client Care, Behavior & Ethical Standards Misconduct, HIPAA & Disciplinary Actions, ANE Reporting (Abuse, Neglect & Exploitation), OSHA Requirements, Hand Washing, PP, Infection Control, Hazardous Materials (Chemicals in the Workplace), Proper Body Mechanics, Needle Stick Injuries.
- Attire and Appearance: Dress must be appropriate for the work assignment and encourage a professional presentation. In particular, the following apply: Home Care Attendants are not required to wear a particular style of clothing, but clothes must be tasteful and professional work-like. Scrubs and closed toe footwear are recommended. Do not wear tank tops, T-shirts, shorts, torn blue jeans, sunglasses, beach thongs or other inappropriate clothes. The Agency nametag should be worn during working hours.
- Understand that unauthorized tardiness and unauthorized absenteeism are not tolerated. Tardiness or absenteeism (minimal or excessive) may result in immediate termination, with no exceptions.
- Understand that by signing this document, the Attendant accepts employment and acknowledges that attendance is a primary function when servicing personal assistance clients with functional limitations in the home.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, the applicant must:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Provide proof of authorization to work in the United States
- Be competent to perform assigned tasks
- Not be the spouse or common-law spouse of the client/member (such applicants are excluded from being a paid attendant)
- Have Mobile (cell phone) Device to clock in/out of client/member job site.
Pay: $13.00 per hour
