Laboratory Tech (MLT/MT) (full-time in Del Norte)
Position Requirements:
1. Licensure/Certification: MLT or MT/MLS or equivalent through ASCP, AMT or other.
2. Education: Associate’s degree or higher
3. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Phlebotomy experience. Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook). Must have excellent verbal skills to present information and ideas essential to supervisory duties and understand general laboratory practices; capable of working closely with patients and other staff members; capable of handling fast paced work environment; workable knowledge of safety procedures; must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language; must have patience and enthusiasm as well as the willingness and ability to handle difficult situations with good judgment; must be able to work as a team player; must be flexible and able to work scheduled shifts; must be willing to learn.
Night shift. Performs routine testing in serology, hematology, coagulation, clinical chemistry, clinical microbiology, urinalysis and immunohematology. Makes qualitative and quantitative determinations of blood cell counts, chemistry assays, serology assays, blood bank and microbiology assays. Performs lab testing as well as preventative maintenance and troubleshooting procedures when needed. Responsible for specimen collection (OP, ED, IP), accessioning and processing of laboratory specimens including blood, urine, stool, sputum, arterial blood gases and nasopharyngeal specimens. Orders and packages specimens for send out testing. Required to check orders for valid diagnosis/medical necessity. Keeps detailed records of lab tests performed and reports to authorized personnel. Must be able to multi-task. MT/MLT certification or equivalent.
Wage range: $28.00 – $35.00 / hour
