What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manufacturing Plant Manager / Supervisor position at Rinker Materials?

As Plant Manager, you will play a crucial role in providing supervision of plant team members in the daily attainment of scheduled production plans for the plant. The Plant Manager works together with Region Operations Manager, sales, engineering, production scheduler and production team members to schedule and produce product to meet specifications and customer expectations.
About the Role:
- Ensure the efficient operation of precast manufacturing processes by managing production planning, staffing, and day-to-day manufacturing operations in a cost-effective manner.
- Coordinates raw material deliveries, maintains inventory, and optimizes production processes.
- Accurately track and record metrics, troubleshoot and resolve operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
- Act as a leader in terms of safety, quality, continuous improvement and change management.
- Analyze data drawn from production reports in order to identify opportunities for improved efficiencies and to reduce quality defects.
- Monitor equipment maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and collaborate with maintenance teams.
- Communicate, implement and apply company policies and procedures.
- Lead by example, motivate employees and be a positive source of influence.
- Encourage autonomous work by empowering employees.
- Develop a training plan and ensure succession planning.
- Ensure the product quality standards are met through inspections and material testing procedures.
- Administer company safety program ensuring compliance with required training and OSHA safety procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Must have precast concrete experience in manufacturing manholes and structures.
- Undergraduate degree preferred.
- 3-5 years’ supervisory experience including team building, facilitation, mentoring and follow-through.
- Knowledge of production management in the concrete industry or equivalent.
- Demonstrated ability to provide direction, develop and lead a team, provide strategic direction, and inspire the team to achieve key goals in a timely and cost-effective manner. Ability to apply problem solving techniques.
- Strong written and verbal communications skills and ability to present oneself and communicate in a professional, positive, and courteous manner at all times with all levels of team members.
- Ability to provide clear and concise verbal instructions along with the ability to listen and ask questions to understand points made by others.
- General computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and database systems.
- Ability to read and apply information from plans, blueprints, work instructions and equipment manuals.
- Mathematical skills and mechanical abilities to diagnose and solve problems
- Demonstrated pattern of positive attitude, strong work ethic and dedication.
- Must have a valid drivers’ license and ability to travel 5-10 percent of the time to locations and/or meetings.
