Senior Transportation Engineer (Highways)

The Senior Transportation Engineer (Highway) is a key leadership role responsible for driving the success of our newly established office in the Roanoke/Blacksburg/Christiansburg region, supporting the growth and development of RDA's Transportation Platform.

Responsibilities include leading business development efforts, guiding project delivery, mentoring junior staff, and playing a central role in growing a high-performing transportation team while exceeding client expectations. We’re looking for ambitious and passionate professionals who are eager to build innovative transportation solutions and make a lasting difference in the communities we serve.

What You'll Do:

• Lead the Charge: Take the reins on challenging highway design projects, from concept to construction.
• Drive Innovation: Develop innovative solutions for complex intersections, interchanges, and pedestrian facilities.
• Collaborate & Conquer: Lead project teams, mentor junior engineers, and foster a collaborative environment.
• Embrace Challenges: Tackle a diverse portfolio of projects, from large-scale design-build initiatives to impactful local improvements.
• Make an Impact: Interact directly with clients, agencies, and contractors, leaving your mark on the transportation landscape.

What You'll Need:

• A Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (Master's a plus!)
• 8 years of hands-on experience in highway engineering design
• A passion for excellence and a commitment to delivering high-quality projects
• Strong technical skills in highway design, with a deep understanding of VDOT, AASHTO, and FHWA standards
• A knack for collaboration and exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in CADD/Design Software (MicroStation, InRoads, Geopak, OpenRoads, AutoCAD, Civil3D)
• A P.E. license in Virginia (highly desirable)
