Rinker Design Associates (RDA) is seeking a talented Drainage Engineer with 7–12 years of experience to join our Transportation team. In this role, you'll contribute to the analysis and design of drainage and stormwater systems for a variety of roadway and infrastructure projects. You'll work closely with project managers and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality solutions that enhance safety, mobility, and environmental stewardship.

What You'll Do:
- Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses and design for transportation and infrastructure projects.
- Prepare drainage reports, stormwater management calculations, and supporting technical documentation.
- Design storm sewer systems, culverts, channels, and erosion and sediment control measures.
- Develop plans and models using HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM, MicroStation, and OpenRoads Designer.
- Coordinate with project managers, clients, and regulatory agencies to support project delivery.
- Ensure designs comply with VDOT, DEQ, FEMA, and applicable local and federal regulations.
- Participate in field investigations and provide construction support as needed.
- Collaborate with roadway, traffic, and environmental teams to deliver integrated project solutions.
- Assist with proposal preparation and provide technical guidance to junior engineering staff.
What You'll Need:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- 7–12 years of experience in drainage, stormwater, or water resources engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required or ability to obtain Virginia licensure through reciprocity.
- Experience with VDOT transportation projects and familiarity with the VDOT Drainage Manual.
- Knowledge of FEMA, DEQ, and AASHTO standards and regulations.
- Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and work effectively in a collaborative environment.
- Proficiency with industry software tools, including:
- HEC-RAS (1D & 2D)
- HEC-HMS
- SWMM / InfoSWMM
- MicroStation / OpenRoads Designer
- GIS (ArcGIS) and other drainage design tools
