Operator Position Overview
This role is responsible for the operation of the plant, working a 12-hour rotating shift schedule, to ensure maximum production quantity and quality.
The Operator will support the policies, goals, and objectives of Ringneck Energy by following all Safety rules and regulations, enforcing safety procedures, and participating in safety trainings.
The Operator will be involved in monitoring production and quality, anticipating and solving problems in a timely manner, and identifying opportunities for improvement.
They will participate in projects that improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs, maintain records of key production variables, and communicate with QA/QC laboratory to implement QA policies and procedures.
The Operator will sample and test process streams, understand and interpret QA/QC results, and take appropriate action when required.
They will also understand and implement start-up and shut-down procedures for the safe and efficient operation of the Gas-fired package boiler and dryer system, control fire hazards, and inspect fire suppression equipment daily.
The Operator will maintain accurate records of boiler and dryers on a daily, weekly, and/or monthly basis, as required.
They will communicate directly with the maintenance department, perform preventive maintenance activities, and assist maintenance technicians in performing maintenance and repairs.
The Operator will participate in housekeeping, monitor use and inventories of process chemicals and supplies, and perform after hours loading and unloading of products and chemicals.
They will conduct Shift Turnover with incoming shifts and participate in projects that improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs.
Qualifications:
A high school diploma or equivalent certificate is required. An associate degree or technical degree/certification is preferred.
Required Knowledge and Experience:
Experience in the operation of a dry-mill ethanol plant is preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
The Operator must be able to learn and work effectively with the plant's Distributed Control System (DCS), be punctual and timely in meeting all requirements of performance, and maintain courteous, professional, and effective working relationships with employees at all levels of the organization.
Physical Activities and Requirements:
The Operator will work 12-hour shifts on a four-week shift rotation between days and nights, and may be exposed to loud noises, wet and humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic chemicals, extreme hot and cold depending on weather conditions.
