The Role:
The Rindge Avenue Upper School is seeking to hire an exceptional teacher to join our team as a math teacher. The math teacher will be responsible for the instruction of grade-level math Common Core content and practice standards in accordance with the district curriculum map. All instruction will be facilitated within a heterogeneous classroom using flexible grouping. The successful candidate will have experience planning, implementing, and adapting curriculum based on the Massachusetts Curriculum Framework for Mathematics and the associated mathematical practice standards. Leveraging a strong belief that all students are capable of achieving at the highest levels, they will provide multiple access points and scaffolding within instruction and assessment for a wide range of learners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Empower a diverse group of learners via compassionate math instruction, guided by district curriculum maps and using Math in Focus as the primary resource alongside other supplemental materials.
- Identify unique student needs and collaborate with team members to effectively address those needs and improve instructional practices throughout the school.
- In math instruction, leverage and support students in using technology, specifically ENO Boards, Chromebooks, and Google Docs.
- Incorporate a variety of assessment strategies in order to inform and modify instruction, as well as target intervention and enrichment needs.
- Partner with families to include them in each student’s learning and development, guided by a profound understanding of the importance of this connection.
Your Skill Set:
As the incoming Math Teacher you will possess many, though perhaps not all, of the following characteristics and qualifications:
- Two or more years of Mathematics teaching experience in the middle grades with a proven track record of promoting high achievement in the classroom.
- Strong classroom management skills.
- Experience leading instruction in urban school settings.
- Strong knowledge of Common Core/MA Curriculum Framework for Mathematics.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, alongside the ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with a diverse staff and student body.
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s in Education strongly preferred.
- Massachusetts Teacher Licensure in Mathematics 5-8 required.
- A strong work ethic, alongside a commitment to doing whatever it takes for students to excel.
