Position OverviewWe are seeking a skilled Refrigeration Technician to join our team in maintaining, servicing, and installing industrial refrigeration systems. The ideal candidate will work on commercial-grade systems including cold storage, blast freezers, glycol chillers, condensers, and ammonia or halocarbon units. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting skills, and a commitment to safety and reliability in production and food-related environments.Key ResponsibilitiesInstall, maintain, and repair refrigeration systems including compressors, evaporators, condensers, fans, piping, controls, and related components.Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and system performance diagnostics to prevent product loss and maximize system uptime.Troubleshoot refrigeration system failures and inefficiencies, such as leaks, oil build-up, vibration issues, or control malfunctions.Execute services on refrigerated distribution centers, processing plants, blast freezers, juice/beverage cooling systems and other food-industry applications.Work on both ammonia and halocarbon systems, including compliance with PSM/RMP regulations when applicable.Monitor and record system performance data like pressures, temperatures, power consumption, and vibration; recommend corrective actions and energy-savings opportunities.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support system startup, retrofit, or design-build projects.Maintain accurate service records, inspection logs, and parts usage documentation.Ensure adherence to safety procedures, housekeeping, and regulatory standards in all tasks.QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or certification in HVAC/R or industrial refrigeration preferred.Minimum of 3–5 years of experience servicing commercial or industrial refrigeration systems; prior experience in cold-storage or food-production settings highly desirable.Familiarity with refrigerants, including ammonia and halocarbons, and related safety/compliance requirements.Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, including ability to read schematics and apply diagnostic methods.Experience using precision instruments and condition-monitoring tools such as vibration analysis, alignment tools, and system performance testers.Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and respond to emergency service calls as needed.Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, work in cold environments such as freezer rooms, and stand for extended periods.Excellent verbal and written communication skills to document activities and coordinate with production teams.Work Environment & ScheduleWork is performed in industrial settings including cold storage, processing plants, and refrigerant mechanical rooms.
