Power BI Developer (55857)

Riley Permian
Oklahoma, OK Full Time
POSTED ON 4/18/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 6/18/2026

Position Summary:

The Power BI Developer serves as a critical bridge between raw data and business strategy, partnering closely with Data Engineering to transform and normalize disparate data sources into a cohesive, scalable analytics platform. The ideal candidate brings a strong combination of SQL and DAX expertise alongside a practical understanding of accounting fundamentals, enabling the delivery of highquality reporting that supports recurring business reviews, adhoc analysis, and ongoing data quality assurance.

This role will be a key contributor to an organizationwide effort to scale AIenabled datasets and promote selfservice analytics across the business. The ideal candidate will be genuinely excited by the opportunity to thoughtfully introduce and expand AIdriven functionality within a widely used and businesscritical Power BI environment, enhancing how stakeholders explore, understand, and trust data at scale.

Important Note on AI Usage:

While AI is commonly used across our Data Team as an accelerant in daytoday work, candidates must demonstrate a strong command of foundational concepts and the ability to perform core tasks independently, without reliance on AI assistance. This expectation will be directly assessed during the interview process.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain highperformance Power BI reports, including both interactive dashboards and paginated reports.
  • Champion the adoption of AIenabled semantic models to support advanced capabilities such as natural language Q&A, automated insights, and scalable selfservice analytics.
  • Support the company’s ERP transition through the development of specialized reports and purposebuilt datasets.
  • Extract, transform, and normalize data from multiple source systems using SQL and Power Query.
  • Develop complex DAX measures to support financial reporting requirements, including variance analysis, trend analysis, forecasting, and accountingspecific KPIs.
  • Partner closely with Data Engineering to optimize data models and ensure seamless integration within the Microsoft Power BI, Fabric, and SQL Server ecosystem.
  • Build and monitor data quality control (QC) reporting to proactively identify anomalies and ensure the accuracy and reliability of financial and operational data.
  • Translate complex, crossfunctional business requirements into clear technical specifications and actionable visual insights.
  • Other duties as requested or required.
Qualifications:

Skills and Competencies:

  • SQL Mastery: Advanced ability to write complex queries, joins, and CTEs to manipulate and analyze large datasets.
  • Power BI & DAX: Deep experience with dimensional modeling (star schema) and advanced DAX patterns to support complex business logic.
  • Accounting Literacy: Strong working knowledge of accounting concepts and terminology, including General Ledger, P&L, AR/AP, accruals, and financial close processes.
  • Analytical Mindset: Demonstrated ability to solve ambiguous, messy data problems through critical thinking and structured problemsolving.
  • Communication: Ability to clearly explain technical concepts and analytical results to nontechnical, financefocused stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Industry Experience: Prior experience in the Oil and Gas sector, particularly within operations or reserves reporting.
  • Microsoft Fabric: Handson experience with Fabric components such as OneLake, Lakehouses, or Data Factory.
  • Certifications: Power BI Data Analyst Associate (PL300) and/or Fabric Analytics Engineer (DP600).
  • Scripting: Experience with Python and/or PowerShell, which are commonly used within our environment.
