Indiana University Health is seeking individuals who embody these values to join our Riley Children`s Health leadership team in the role of Administrative Director – Perioperative Services and Sterile Processing.

The Director provides strategic leadership, administrative decision-making, and long-term planning for IU Health Perioperative Services and the Sterile Processing Department (SPD). This role ensures the efficient and effective use of personnel, materials, and financial resources to support high-quality patient care.

  • Establishing departmental policy, direction, and accountability for outcomes.
  • Leading integration of perioperative and SPD services in collaboration with hospital leadership, physicians, and emerging delivery systems.
  • Serving as an advisor to metroplex facilities on SPD operations and best practices.
  • Maintaining 24-hour accountability for departmental performance and service delivery.

Reports to: Vice President – Chief Operating Officer, Riley Children`s Health

Candidate Qualifications

Candidates for the position will be evaluated according to the following criteria and competencies.

  • Master of Nursing or related fields (e.g. Public Health; Health Administration; Business Administration).
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA. Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies. Requires extensive nursing and leadership experience, which is typically gained through seven to ten years of progressive service.
  • In-depth understanding of the Career Advancement Program and the ability to articulate the nursing professional practice model and all nursing programs.
  • Effective communicator and collaborator with all members of the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Build and promote strong working relationships with all teams throughout the department
  • Must have in-depth knowledge of state and national regulatory agency guidelines.
  • Will lead quality improvement initiatives.
  • Direct accountability for the management and utilization of resources.
