Position Overview:
The Child Life Specialist works as a vital member of the healthcare team to address the emotional and psychosocial concerns of pediatric patients and their families. Responsibilities include:
- Supporting families and patients adjusting to illness, injury, or loss in critical, acute, and ambulatory settings
- Assessing psychosocial, developmental, and cultural needs of patients and families
- Using developmentally appropriate interventions to educate, prepare, and support families, enhancing their coping skills
- Collaborating with the multidisciplinary team to advocate for emotionally safe, family-centered care
- Creating a supportive environment that addresses emotional well-being and reduces anxiety
- Education: Bachelor's Degree required.
- Experience: 0–3 years of relevant experience preferred.
- Certifications:
- ACLP Certified Child Life Specialist Certification required within one year of hire.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association required.
- Additional Requirements:
- Completed or current enrollment in a Child Life Internship at a children’s hospital is mandatory to be considered
