Essential Functions:

- Responsible for completing asphalt projects on time and safely including proper operation of equipment (Milling maching, paving machine, skip loaders, rollers, skidsteers, etc) and ensuring a quality finish per the project specifications and plans.
- Observe, record and report daily activities in field notes logs.
- Communication point between the client contact and construction operations team.
- Coordinate with material suppliers on scheduling, quality and completion of work.
- Review works orders, proposals and contracts to ensure project scope is defined.
- Review, create and coordinate the completion of punch list items.
- Consult with engineers, clients, inspectors and Superintendent to resolve unforeseen issues.
- Ensures work complies with all technical, and quality guidelines
- Quality Control from start to finish
- Ability to comprehend, analyze and execute blueprints.
- Request and review change orders when required with the clients and superintendent
- Conduct daily and weekly Safety meetings with paving crew, and weekly/quarterly meetings with operations leadership.
- Inspect completed work, ensure proper measurements
- Lead the crew in company procedures
Success Factors:
- Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods, often under adverse climatic conditions.
- Ability to lift up to 80 lbs multiple times during a work shift
- Ability to climb, dig, work in tight spaces, on uneven surfaces, walking, stooping, and kneeling
- Ability to understand and follow specific oral and written instructions
- Ability to work well independently and as a part of a team with co-workers
- Ability to pass motor vehicle, criminal background check, and comply with drug-free workplace policy
- English usage sufficient to keep records, place orders, and prepare simple narrative reports
- Willingness and ability to learn additional skills
Experience and Education:
- Three (3 ) plus years’ experience in a construction role is required
- Prior crew coordination experience is preferred
- Licensed Plumber, Pipe Fitter and or three (3) years apprenticeship is preferred
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year to year basis
Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications:
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid State of Residence Driver’s License is required within two weeks of employment.
- Candidates must pass criminal and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background checks and pass a pre-employment drug screen.
