The Automation Technician supports the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of automated and electrical systems used in oilfield and industrial operations. The position is full-time and based in a field-support and operations environment.
Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot automation, electrical, and control systems
- Support automated equipment and instrumentation used in field operations
- Perform diagnostics and repairs on electrical and automation components
- Assist with commissioning, testing, and startup of automated systems
- Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control drawings
- Support preventive maintenance programs to ensure system reliability
- Collaborate with operations, engineering, and field personnel to resolve issues
- Follow safety procedures and maintain compliance with applicable regulations
- Document work performed, issues identified, and corrective actions taken
- Participate in on-the-job training and continuous learning related to automation and controls
- Experience in automation, controls, instrumentation, or electrical systems preferred
- Electricians with limited automation experience and a strong interest in learning are encouraged to apply
- Candidates with oilfield experience and strong mechanical or technical aptitude will be considered
- Basic understanding of electrical systems, controls, or instrumentation is a plus
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment and systems in field environments
- Strong work ethic with a willingness to learn and take initiative
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work full-time in a field-based environment
- Valid driver’s license required
- Willingness to relocate or commute to the work location as required
- Entry-level / limited experience: starting hourly rate in the upper $30s
- Experienced automation or electrical technicians: starting hourly rate in the low-to-mid $40s
