Project Manager (DOT, Civil, Electrical)
Seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead large-scale Department of Transportation (DOT) and heavy civil infrastructure projects throughout New Haven County. This individual will be directly accountable for the full project arc, steering complex electrical and civil installations from initial conception and design through final closeout.
The ideal candidate possesses a proven track record of managing high-stakes projects (ranging from $10M to $100M ) and thrives in a fast-paced, safety-critical environment. You will be the primary point of contact, ensuring that our work not only meets but exceeds customer expectations while maintaining rigorous adherence to OSHA and company safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Full Lifecycle Management: Lead the ‘full arc’ of construction projects, including pre-construction planning, design collaboration, execution, and final delivery.
- Financial Oversight: Manage all financial aspects of projects via ongoing job forecasting, budget management, and cost-to-complete analysis.
- Strategic Coordination: Oversee pre-con meetings to ensure a seamless handoff from Estimating to Field Operations; collaborate closely with prefabrication and design departments.
- Stakeholder Management: Set clear goals for subcontractors and suppliers; negotiate and resolve customer concerns with a professional, solution-oriented approach.
- Change Management: Accurately estimate and negotiate change orders for assigned projects to ensure scope alignment.
- Operational Excellence: Manage all job closeout procedures and conduct post-project reviews to identify areas for future improvement.
- Leadership: Provide direct coaching, counseling, and mentorship to Project Engineers and Superintendents.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Professional Experience: Minimum of 5 years of Project Management experience in electrical or heavy civil construction.
- DOT Expertise: Proven experience managing Department of Transportation (DOT) projects is mandatory. Familiarity with DOT compliance, reporting, and safety standards is essential.
- Large-Scale Project Experience: Demonstrated history of managing projects in the $10M – $100M range (current immediate project scope is $20M).
- Full Arc: Ability to demonstrate successful management of a project through its entire life cycle (Conception → Design → Planning → Execution → Closeout).
- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required.
- Project Management Software: Experience with Trimble ProjectSight is highly preferred and considered a significant plus.
- Safety Mindset: Deep understanding of OSHA-mandated requirements and a "safety-first" leadership style.
Salary : $150,000 - $200,000
