Project Manager

Right Way Signs, LLC
Chicago, IL Full Time
POSTED ON 4/15/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 10/11/2026

About Us Right Way Signs is a full-service commercial signage fabrication and installation company based in Chicago. We deliver high-quality signage solutions for national brands, municipal clients, and local businesses — and we do it the right way. We're growing and looking for a seasoned Project Manager to help us keep that momentum.

Position Summary The Project Manager is responsible for overseeing signage projects from award through completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest quality standards. This is an in-office role that serves as the central point of coordination between our design, permit, fabrication, and installation teams as well as external clients, vendors, and subcontractors.

Sign industry experience is required. The ideal candidate brings deep knowledge of sign types, materials, fabrication methods, and installation — and thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple signage projects simultaneously from kickoff through final punch list and client sign-off
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle, providing regular status updates and managing expectations
  • Coordinate across internal departments — design, estimating, production, and installation — to maintain project schedules and resolve issues proactively
  • Develop and maintain detailed project timelines, budgets, and scopes of work
  • Review shop drawings, permit applications, and specifications for accuracy and completeness
  • Schedule and oversee site surveys, installations, and service calls with field crews
  • Track project costs against estimates, flag variances early, and identify opportunities to protect margins
  • Manage vendor and subcontractor relationships, including obtaining quotes, issuing purchase orders, and ensuring quality of deliverables
  • Travel regionally and nationally as needed for site surveys, client meetings, installations, and project oversight
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation including job files, change orders, RFIs, and closeout packages
  • Identify and communicate project risks and develop mitigation plans
  • Contribute to process improvements that increase efficiency and client satisfaction

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of project management experience in the commercial sign industry (required)
  • Strong working knowledge of sign types, materials, fabrication methods, permitting processes, and installation techniques
  • Excellent communication skills — able to clearly and professionally interact with clients, vendors, and internal team members at all levels
  • Strong people skills with the ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage competing priorities, and build lasting client relationships
  • Proven problem-solving ability — resourceful, solutions-oriented, and calm under pressure
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects in various stages simultaneously
  • Proficiency in project management tools, Microsoft Office, and familiarity with estimating or ERP software used in the sign industry
  • Willingness to travel regionally and nationally as project needs require
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing national rollout programs, multi-location signage projects, and smaller single location projects
  • Familiarity with ADA signage requirements and local/municipal permitting
  • ISA (International Sign Association) membership or certifications
  • Experience spreadsheets and project tracking software
