What are the responsibilities and job description for the PEERS Project Area Coordinator position at Right to Life of Southwest Indiana?
Program Overview
The PEERS Project serves as a peer-to-peer program in our local high schools and middle schools. High School students are recruited to create and implement a presentation that they will deliver to their middle school PEERS. Topics include risky behaviors (ie- drugs, sex, alcohol), social media influences, and the peer pressures many of our youth face in their schools. All curriculum is evidence-based research and vetted by our local schools prior to implementation. The PEERS Project leaders gain experience in public speaking as well as leadership during this process. The goal is to build strong leaders who can provide supportive role models to their middle school peers.
Position Summary
Oversee the PEERS Project in designated high schools and all feeder schools. Act as a resource for the community at large in promoting the social, physical, mental, and spiritual benefits of making healthy lifestyle choices with our youth and seeking support when necessary.
Key Responsibilities
In addition to the specific duties and responsibilities listed below, the PEERS Project Area Coordinator is responsible for complying with Right to Life of Southwest Indiana policies and procedures.
- Conduct the PEERS Project programs at each assigned high school.
- Promote the PEERS Project in school and in the community, and in assisting with yearly end of year banquet.
Community Engagement
- Build relationships with community schools and other youth programs in the area.
- Represent the organization at events, meetings, or presentations as requested.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or higher.
- Alignment with Right to Life of Southwest Indiana mission and values.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in nonprofit or community-based organizations.
- Experience with high school/middle school students.
- Familiarity with computers and Microsoft Teams.
Compensation
Compensation is based on experience and will be discussed during the interview process.
Pay: From $20.00 per hour
