Job description:
The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will collaborate closely with the interdisciplinary team within a skilled nursing facility to deliver comprehensive, patient-centered behavioral health care. This role is responsible for conducting psychiatric assessments, diagnosing and managing mental health conditions, developing treatment plans, prescribing medications, and providing therapeutic interventions to support residents' overall well-being and quality of life
1. Conduct psychiatric evaluations and diagnose mental health disorders based on DSM-5 criteria.
2. Develop treatment plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, including medication management and psychotherapy.
3. Prescribe medications and monitor patients for side effects and efficacy.
4. Provide psychotherapy to patients, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and other evidence-based therapies.
5. Monitor patients' progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
6. Educate patients and their families about mental health disorders, treatments, and medications.
7. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as social workers, psychologists, and psychiatrists, to ensure comprehensive care.
8. Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record.
9. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education to maintain current knowledge and skills.
Job Requirements
· Master's degree in nursing from an accredited institution.
· Must have DEA#
· Current state licensure as a nurse practitioner and certification as a psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner.
· Minimum of two years of experience in psychiatric-mental health nursing.
· Comfortable working with patients who have complex mental health conditions.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
