Position: Head Carpenter / Deck Manager / Production Manager
Production: Dolly Parton's Smoky Mountain Christmas Carol (SMCC)

Engagement Period
Pre-Tour Administration & Weekly Production Calls: July 2026 – October 2026
Tour Prep (Shop / Pack): October 26 – October 31, 2026
Technical Rehearsals (In Venue): November 3 – November 10, 2026
Performance Dates: November 11 – December 23, 2026
Compensation
Total Project Fee: $18,000 – $20,000 USD (all-inclusive). This fee includes all pre-production meetings, weekly production calls, technical advancing, tour preparation, rehearsals, and on-tour responsibilities.
Per Diem: Standard Right Angle Entertainment per diem will be provided on travel and performance days.
Housing: The tour travels in sleeper coaches and will be the primary accommodations shared with the rest of the crew. Hotel accommodations will be provided on overnight stays unless otherwise arranged.
Travel: Employer will provide all necessary air and ground transportation related to the engagement.
Position Summary
This position serves in a dual capacity as Head Carpenter/Deck Manager and on-tour Production Manager. The role is responsible for leading all scenic and deck operations while also managing day-to-day production execution across all departments.
Primary Responsibilities
Pre-Production & Administration

Lead and direct weekly production calls with directors, designers, and creative team beginning in July.

Track and manage action items, schedules, and deliverables.

Provide guidance on touring feasibility, scenic execution, and logistics.
Technical Advancing

Advance all venues for labor, rigging, lighting, audio, video, scenic and logistics requirements.

Review venue specifications and coordinate local staffing and rentals.

Maintain accurate advancing records and communication.

Load advance details into Master Tour and generate day sheets using the templates generated in the MT software.
On-Tour Operations

Serve as Head Carpenter leading all load-ins, deck operations, and load-outs.

Operate and supervise all scenic transitions during performances.

Maintain scenic integrity and execute repairs as needed.

Act as Production Manager coordinating all departments daily.

Lead daily production meetings and venue walkthroughs.
Logistics & Trucking

Create and maintain the truck pack.

Ensure safe and efficient load-in/load-out processes.

Adjust logistics as needed throughout the tour.
Safety

Enforce all safety protocols and PPE requirements.

Conduct daily safety inspections.

Ensure safe working conditions for all personnel.
General Expectations

Wear appropriate footwear including steel toe shoes during load-in/out.
