What are the responsibilities and job description for the General Accountant position at Riggs Washington DC?
Riggs Washington DC sits on the iconic downtown corner of Penn Quarter's 9th and F Street in a historic building once home to Riggs National Bank. Each of the Hotel's 181 guest rooms offers a playful nod to the building's legacy. Riggs is home to the all-occasion European brasserie-inspired restaurant Café Riggs, as well as Silver Lyan - a subterranean bar from the internationally acclaimed Ryan Chetiyawardana, also known as Mr Lyan.
Core Essential Functions:
* Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and relevant regulations.
* Review and process employee expense reports, ensuring compliance with company policies.
* Prepare and issue invoices, track receivables, and follow up on outstanding payments.
* Process vendor invoices, ensure timely payment of bills, and manage vendor relationships.
* Perform bank and account reconciliations to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial transactions.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for the hotel, including general ledger entries, accounts payable and receivable
* Assist in the preparation and execution of the monthly close process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting of financial data.
Preferred General Accountant will have:
* One to two years Hotel Accounting experience
* Preferred working system knowledge for Opera, ADP, Sun system Accounting, and Excel
* Detail oriented with a knowledge of Payroll timekeeping, processing detailed invoices, processing checks, and knowledge of collections
* Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
