Riggs Washington DC sits on the iconic downtown corner of Penn Quarter’s 9th and F Street in a historic building once home to Riggs National Bank. The Role: As Senior People & Culture Manager, you'll partner with senior hotel leadership and department heads to champion a culture of service excellence, engagement, and inclusion. Reporting to the Regional Director of People & Culture, you'll own the full P&C function for the hotel, from recruitment and performance management to employee well-being, compliance, and the P&C budget. What You'll Do: People & Culture Leadership Foster a positive, inclusive culture aligned to Lore Group's values of Family, Discovery, Detail and Spirit. Lead DEI programs and employee engagement initiatives including recognition, wellness and team-building events. Champion performance management via Workday and coach managers and employees to perform at their best. Run an effective and proactive engagement calendar for the hotel. Recruitment & Talent Lead end-to-end recruitment in line with headcount plans and financial objectives. Build talent pipelines through partnerships with local schools, colleges and hospitality programs. Oversee succession planning and leadership development with the L&D lead and Lore Hub. Employee Relations & Compliance Serve as the expert point of contact for complex people matters, conducting thorough investigations. Ensure full compliance with labour laws, regulations, and company policies. Manage employee safety practices and all employment compliance requirements. Ensure Workday (HRIS) is fully managed and used effectively across the property. Finance & Operations Own the full People & Culture budget including ER, recruitment and L&D spend. Oversee payroll processes and compensation structures in partnership with the Hotel Manager/GM. Analyse P&C metrics (e.g. turnover, training effectiveness) to provide actionable management insights. Deputize for the Regional Director of People & Culture when required. What We're Looking For: Experience & Qualifications 3–5 years of progressive HR experience, with 2–3 years in a leadership role. Hospitality or fast-paced service industry background strongly preferred. Bachelor's degree in HR, Hospitality, Business Administration or related field (Master's preferred). Relevant professional HR qualification for the location of the role. Skills & Attributes Outstanding communication skills — verbal, written and presentation. Strong training delivery, analytical and problem-solving capabilities. Proven ability to build and influence stakeholder relationships at all levels. Knowledge of the luxury/lifestyle hotel sector in the local market. Proficiency in HRIS systems; Workday experience is a distinct advantage. Effective conflict resolution and change management skills.
