Description

The Transportation Safety Specialist develops and implements safety programs, ensuring compliance with regulations (like DOT), training drivers and staff on safe practices, investigating accidents, and conducting transportation safety audits. They manage safety systems, monitor performance metrics, keep up with industry standards, and foster a strong safety culture to reduce risks for drivers, employees, and the public. 


 WHAT YOU'LL DO: 

  • Program Development & Compliance: Manage and enforce safety policies, procedures, and programs for transportation operations, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local rules.
  • Training & Development: Deliver training for drivers and staff on vehicle operations, safety techniques, load securement, and emergency procedures.
  • Accident Investigation: Investigate incidents, near misses, and accidents to find root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Audits & Inspections: Conduct regular audits of vehicles, equipment, facilities, and processes to identify hazards and ensure safety standards are met.
  • Data & Reporting: Monitor safety metrics, manage accident reporting, and provide reports to leadership on safety performance.
  • Regulatory Liaison: Interface with regulatory agencies and insurance carriers.  
  • Oversee driver qualifications, licensing, and ongoing training.
  • Manage safety aspects of fleet maintenance and inspections.
  • Develop strategies for improving overall transportation safety and efficiency.
  • Stay current on evolving transportation safety regulations and best practices

 

Requirements

WHAT YOU'LL NEED: 

  • Minimum 5 years of Transportation Safety experience.
