What are the responsibilities and job description for the Coordinator of Student Services position at Riesel Independent School District?
Primary Purpose:
Plan, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive student support program at assigned campus. Direct and guide students to fully develop each student’s academic, career, personal, and social abilities and address the needs of special population students.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree required
Master’s degree in counseling from an accredited college or university (preferred)
Valid Texas school counselor certificate or working towards it (preferred)
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of student appraisal, career development, and academic advising
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of federal programs
Ability to present information in one-on-one, small group, and large group situations to students, parents, and district staff
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
Experience:
Two years creditable experience as a certified classroom teacher
Major Responsibilities and Duties
Guidance
Collaborate with teachers to ensure students’ academic and social-emotional success.
Guide individual students, groups of students, and parents to plan, monitor, and manage the student’s own educational and career development including course selections, post-secondary opportunities, and college and career readiness requirements.
Serve as an impartial, non-reporting resource for interpersonal conflicts and discourse involving two or more students.
Assist with financial aid applications, requirements, and/or inquiries.
Consultation
Coordinate school, home, and community resources and refer students, parents, and others to special programs and services as needed.
Work collaboratively to advocate for individual students and specific groups of students.
Assessment
Interpret standardized test results and assessment data to guide students in individual goal setting and planning.
Assist with conducting the campus assessment program, as directed.
Program Management and Administration
Advocate for a school environment that acknowledges and respects diversity.
Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents.
Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and board policy. Comply with all district and campus routines and regulations
Adhere to legal, ethical, and professional standards for educators,including current professional standards of competence and practice.
Other
Create and maintain up-to-date student records and files, utilizing approved programs and protocols.
Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
Other duties as assigned.
