Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD)
Location: Baltimore VA Medical Center, 10 N. Greene Street, Baltimore, MD 21201
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
Position Summary
The Baltimore VA Medical Center is seeking a Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD) to support the Radiation Oncology Service in treatment planning and dosimetry operations. The CMD will collaborate with the Radiation Oncologist and Medical Physicist to design and verify treatment plans for complex radiotherapy cases, ensuring optimal dose delivery and patient safety
Key Responsibilities
- Design radiation treatment plans in accordance with physician prescriptions and anatomical/physiological data
- Perform 3D treatment planning using Eclipse and ARIA systems for 2D/3D Conformal, SRS, SRT, SBRT, and IMRT/VMAT modalities
- Calculate and verify monitor units (MUs) or treatment times for prescribed doses
- Support IGRT and Cone Beam CT processes
- Assist with simulation, immobilization devices, compensators, and custom shielding fabrication
- Maintain accurate treatment documentation in CPRS
- Provide technical support to Medical Physicists for QA, calibration, and radiation protection activities
Qualifications
- Certification: Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD) by the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board (MDCB) (required)
Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of continuous work experience within the last 3 years
Minimum 3 years of experience with:
- Varian Linear Accelerators (Edge or equivalent)
- IGRT, including Cone Beam CT (TG-142 standards)
- Eclipse/ARIA systems (2D/3D Conformal, SRS, SRT, SBRT, IMRT/VMAT per TG-53)
- Siemens SOMATOM goOpen Pro CT Simulator (TG-66 standards)
Additional Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship and VA credentialing eligibility
- Technical proficiency and fluency in English (oral and written)
- Compliance with CEU requirements and maintenance of certification.
- Not listed on the HHS OIG Exclusion List
