Sedgewood Manor Healthcare Center is seeking a Director of Nursing. The Director of Nursing (DON) plans, coordinates, and manages all nursing services. This role provides overall leadership, direction, and evaluation of nursing care to ensure quality, compliance, and regulatory standards are consistently met. The DON supports the health and well-being of residents, oversees staff performance, and may assume responsibility for facility operations in the Administrator’s absence.
Director of Nursing (DON) Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Directly supervises Assistant Director of Nursing, Unit Managers, Licensed Nursing Staff, and other assigned personnel. Responsible for staffing oversight, training, performance evaluations, and professional development.
Provide leadership to nursing staff to ensure delivery of quality, person-centered resident care that meets or exceeds regulatory and company standards.
Develop, implement, and monitor nursing policies, procedures, and programs to support best practices and compliance.
Recruit, hire, onboard, train, and retain qualified nursing staff; oversee performance management and conduct timely evaluations.
Develop and maintain written staffing plans and schedules to meet resident care needs and census levels.
Conduct regular resident rounds to monitor quality of care, documentation, and compliance with physician orders.
Maintain administrative responsibility for accurate charting, medication administration, and treatment documentation.
Collaborate with the Medical Director and interdisciplinary team to ensure residents’ needs are met through appropriate clinical programs.
Oversee and participate in state and federal survey processes, ensuring timely completion of corrective action plans.
Assist in preparation and monitoring of the annual nursing budget; track monthly performance against budget goals.
Evaluate new admissions to ensure facility can provide appropriate level of care.
Ensure accurate and timely completion of reports, assessments, and regulatory documentation.
May provide direct resident care as needed.
Director of Nursing (DON) Education and Experience
Required: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing; Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Required: Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
Required: Minimum of two years experience as DON or ADON in skilled nursing facility.
Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations governing long-term care.
Proficient with computer systems and standard office equipment.
