What are the responsibilities and job description for the ED Tech 7170 position at Ridgeview Medical Center?
Purpose of Job
This position is responsible for providing individualized care to patients in an emergency setting according to established standards, policies and procedures.
Job Functions
- Prepares and transports patients for examination
- Assists emergency staff in direct and non-direct patient care functions as delegated
- Preforms EKGs and point of care testing
- Applies splints and braces on patients as ordered assuring good CMS after application
- Performs mandatory equipment checks
- Documents the various aspects of care on appropriate forms according to RMC policies and procedures
- Accompanies ambulance transports and assists with airway management as needed
- Demonstrates competencies in the specialty area of Emergency
- Assists with patient-related activates under the supervision of the RN
- Prepares equipment and aids providers during examination, testing, and treatments of patients
- Maintains stocked supplies of equipment in the emergency department
- Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Education/Work Experience
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Completion of a Nursing Assistant or EMT course OR completion of a Nurse Internship with Ridgeview Medical Center OR an approved equivalent combination of educaton and experience
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Strong communication and listening skills
- Ability to meet and maintain the necessary background checks as aligned with position functions
- Ability to work and multi-task in a high stress and fast paced environment
- Capable of making independent decisions with the use of good critical thinking and problem solving skills
- Ability to work autonomously and as a team
- Ability to respond appropriately to unpredictable situations and diverse patient populations
- Knowledge of basic computer functions
- Ability to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned above
License/Certification
- Current Healthcare Provider BLS Certification
Preferred Qualifications
- EMT Certification
- Nursing Assistant Certification
- Experience as a Nursing Assistant or EMT
- Experience in a hospital setting
